'It’s a research goldmine. If you want to find out what people are thinking go on TikTok. It’s a bit like Reddit or Mumsnet but with fewer nazis and mums. I’m not sure it’s even on [creative director's] radar.'

Whatever you think about TikTok and its use for brands (fwiw I think it can become a useful sound on, full screen video channel to reach younger audiences as part of a balanced media plan...) I just CANNOT understand how you could write it off totally.
If nothing else it's a fascinating petri dish of ideas, creativity and culture.
You know, the sort of shit that we in advertising say we deal in.

There is a ton of incredible inspiring creativity on TikTok. I really don’t understand when I see so many old school creatives writing it off. Why not learn from it and embrace it?
If advertising is about understanding and sometimes creating culture, then why blind yourself to a huge chunk of it by being so cynical?
(And once again, this isn't a 'TIKTOK IS THE ONLY CHANNEL YOU NEED' type of tweet. It's clearly not.
But it's big, getting bigger and it's really interesting.
Don't ignore or worse ridicule it because you don't understand it.)

I think some of this goes back to the idea that 'ONLY US CREATIVES CAN BE CREATIVE'.
Bollocks to that.
I think I've seen more exciting, innovative, high quality craft ideas coming from 15 year olds on TikTok in the last 9 months than from adland!
