Often times, when people hit me up with wanting to shed some few pounds off, they go; “I want to lose weight” and my first question to them is; “do you really wanna lose weight or fat??
Most of them goes; “what’s the difference”??

It is no shocker that most people use these two phrases interchangeably without realizing the difference or importance of one over the other.. Even some fitness trainers are quite guilty of these..
The difference between weight loss and fat loss is that;

- WEIGHT LOSS = decrease in overall body weight, including fat (essential and non-essential fats), water and muscles.. The quality of food consumed during weight loss is necessary not important and is usually restricting in nature (cutting out some important macronutrients)..
Exercising may be very minimal or non-existing during a weight loss process..
- FAT LOSS = reduction in body fat (non-essential fat) whilst maintaining or increasing lean muscles..

fat loss can’t be achieved by “dieting” alone.. most importantly, fat loss isn’t restrictive in nature (macronutrients intake is more specific with fat loss)..
