World salutes the Rising Sun, during छठ we pray first to the setting sun on Day - 3, thanking it for the day & all it has done for during the day. On Day - 4 we pay our homage to a rising sun asking for its blessings for a new day that's about to start.

Sticking to its Rigvedic Roots, Chhath is reminiscent of a time when Hinduism was simple and not complex. It's a rare festival where no mantras are involved & no priest is required to perform a pooja.

छठ is a festival of an entire state. It is celebrated across all barriers of Caste, Creed etc. Apart from an entire family helping each other in the preparation, the entire locality and the households too help each other in any way they can.

lot of banana trees in our campus here in Muzaffarpur. Everyone in our locality who can't get a hold of a banana tree for preparing their ghats simply asks us for one & gets it. It is the same if our household needs something similar that somebody else might have. #Bihar #Chhath
People lacking resources but still want to make the offerings to the God go door to door asking for money, materials anything that would help them do the pooja.
No 1 still says no to helping out during the pooja and even the most kanjoos donate whatever little they can #Chhath

In general, I have seen this spirit of helping cut across the filthy divisions of caste etc.
For instance our Kaam Wali Didi always makes her evening offerings with us to the elephant statute at our home with out family as he can't spend on buying it on her own #ChhathPuja

It's a very wrong belief that it's only a woman who compulsorily has to fast during the festival. At a number of places it is a male in the family who is the one fasting on behalf of the family or its an entire family fasting or its both a male & a female fasting. #ChhathPuja
For instance in my own household it is both Maa and Kaku who observe the fast as the व्रती #छठ_पूजा
Lastly & most spectacularly, it is a festival which transcends the boundaries of religion.
Muslim families who pray to छठी मईया do everything that we do during छठ from making the offerings by standing in the water, fasting, singing the songs & making the prasad.
