A rant.

#Kamloops is in the enviable position of being able to grow by doing absolutely nothing. Cost of housing is pushing people away from the Lower Mainland and Kelowna. Ability to work from home is showing people that they have options and that Kamloops is a good one. 1/

But we aren’t going to keep them if we don’t capitalize on this opportunity. Either we invest and improve or we lose out to municipalities like Penticton that actually are.

We need a Performing Arts Centre. We need pedestrian plazas that encourage people to come downtown. We need action on the Tranquille corridor. We need more industrial land. We need more residential land too.

And we need to actively take steps to fulfill Kamplan, the Downtown plan, the North Shore plan, and all the other visions we are teased with but haven’t seen yet.

I understand muni gvt has more fiscal constraints than others. But the province is spending & so are the feds. Kamloops was aggressive in securing funds for affordable housing & effecting change. We need to be just as aggressive in securing funds for recovery and growth.
