Someone in Disney’s business affairs department decided that paying tie-in authors like #AlanDeanFoster what they’re rightfully owed is a problem, & their “solution” is to stop paying.
Only that “solution” is a bigger problem than just paying people.

By deciding to screw over a long time provider of content for their franchises, @WaltDisneyCo is telling everyone that writes, directs, & acts for them that their contracts are not worth the paper they’re printed on.
That’s a terrible & ultimately costly idea.

Since @WaltDisneyCo just told the world that their royalties & residuals contracts are worthless, they have 2 options for future deals:
1. Pay tons more money more upfront to anyone with the slightest clout.
2. Only hire the most poor & desperate talent.

Here are the problems with those options.
1. Costs for everything from movies, to merchandise are going to skyrocket beyond any hope of profitability.
Integrity lowers costs. That’s a fact. Operate without it, & everyone wants everything up front.

2. Relying on poor/desperate people is risky. The truly talented will be quickly poached by rivals. They owe @WaltDisneyCo no loyalty, because Disney offers no loyalty
That leaves the ones who were poor/desperate for a reason, & even they’ll expect to be paid
