“defund” is the new “welfare” and “public housing”—benign policies racialized and attacked by the right that Dems will move away from to appeal to the moderate, white center.

This ain’t new. it’s the nature of Third Way Democratic politics of the last 50 years

And the tea is, Republican opponents *minimally* referenced “defund” in attack ads against centrist Dems this year.
