Work as done vs imagined, pictorially represented through reconstitution of paediatric movicol.

Thank you @StevenShorrock for the diagram and your work on this https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/humanisticsystems.com/2016/12/05/the-varieties-of-human-work/amp/ 1/6
Movicol, a very common laxative prescribed in paediatrics. Recently I’ve had the joy of trying to get my own children to take it. #workasprescribed what does approx 62.5ml actually mean? 2/6
Or #workasdisclosed in clinic - “yeah doc, we do carefully measure it out” 4/6
Whereas actually what happens #workasdone “I’ll just run it under the tap.... yeah I think that looks about right” 5/6
And that is just reconstituting it....... never mind how you actually then get the medication into the child. 6/6
My experience of this seemingly simple process has made me reflect on some of the processes kids, parents & staff do daily. They might not be exactly as prescribed or imagined or disclosed, we are all human, we need to understand the work as done bit to make a difference 7/6
