The Vic Opposition’s behaviour throughout lockdown makes a lot of sense when you consider Conservative political ideology as a whole. They didn’t think we could get to zero cases because they can’t imagine people behaving responsibly and showing empathy for their community.

Their politics preaches that people are inherently selfish and untrustworthy. It’s why they hate welfare systems and Medicare and university educations for all. They can only imagine it being taken advantage of by cheats and liars because that’s what they think everyone is.

Instead, it turns out, we’re largely empathetic creatures when given the opportunity to be so. And when the system shows it cares for us, we reward it by caring for each other more. The entire thing is a debunking of their whole belief system.
