The only items you should splurge on are things that are central to your practice. The rest can and should just be acquired over time within your budget - not everything needs to be bought new or right now
Items like a leftover portion of your dinner, fresh water, song, dance, writing, etc can all be given as an offering and cost you nothing extra
Make as much as you can for yourself. Items like wands will function better when they’re steeped with your own magic from start to finish
Use electric candles!! I know this is controversial but I only use real flame candles when I am doing important work. Otherwise I maintain electric candles
Start your grimoire in your phone notes or Microsoft word until you have enough to put into a book. Not every grimoire needs to be passed down and made from a fancy $300 tome - a regular notebook works just fine

Protect your house with a window/door wash made from water, rosemary, salt, and lemon
For super long term love spells, use molasses. Sweet as hell and slow as the eternal fires that burn there
Sigils can be drawn in the air with your finger if you need one in a pinch (and remember how to draw it)
Altars can and SHOULD be decorated seasonally with items from outside to match - leaves, rocks, flowers, etc
