Today I want to talk to everyone about a piece of ‘lost media’ called Yeah Yeah Beebiss 1.

Yeah Yeah Beebiss 1 originally appeared on listings for mail-order video game service Play it Again in 1989. It later showed up once more in 1990 on that of a different service, Funco.
After that, it disappeared completely. No game under the name Yeah Yeah Beebiss 1 was ever found. People speculated it may have been a placeholder, but then why would it have appeared on the listings of 2 separate companies? Others theorized it may have been an inside joke.
Some theories speculated that it may have been a copyright trap—to see if other game services were copying Play It Again’s sales lists to the letter—or that it may be an actual unlicensed or canceled game, sitting out there, waiting to be beebissed. But wait…
A Japanese game from 1989 called Family Trainer: Rai Rai Kyonshis: Baby Kyonshi no Amida Daibouken could easily have gone by the title “Rai Rai Kyonshis” for short. “Rai Rai” in this case may mean “Yeah Yeah”. As for “beebiss”…
The Japanese characters for “Baby Kyonshis” begin with “Baby”, spelled “ベビー”. However, “一” is also the character for “1” when it’s on its own. If misconstrued in translation, that gives us “Bebi 1”. Another characterized spelling of “Baby” is “Beebi”, which brings us closer.
For the sake of brevity, it’s not unlikely that the whole mouthful of words in the game title would be shortened, leaving us with “Yeah Yeah Beebi 1.” Which leaves us with the question of how the fuck “Beebi” became “Beebiss”. That’s the question to ask god at the pearly gates.
All this to say, I watch a ton of horror YouTube, and coming across this ‘lost media’ case in compilations and investigations where the narrator has to say “Yeah Yeah Beebiss 1” in a completely serious tone of voice makes me lose my entire shit. There is nothing funnier
Anyway, info gathered from Lost Media Wiki, Chloe Prince for The Gamer, YouTubers blameitonjorge and LSuperSonicQ, and commenter thecianinator. I love this shit thank you for giving me a reason to get up in the morning
