Twitter, like any other tool, can be as valuable as you want it to be. It takes a little bit of time to get the hang of it, and more importantly, a little bit of letting loose to be okay with the fact that you can’t/won’t read every tweet. #Thread https://twitter.com/design_law/status/1329160924385734662
I have said on here many times that you can more easily meet and learn from subject matter experts. Lots of awesome folks live tweet matters of significant importance like @RMFifthCircuit did yesterday or like @PeterOrlowicz has done in the past. Or you can follow fun and thoughtful SCOTUS commentary from folks like @Jaime_ASantos, @HanksKendyl, @LeahLitman, etc.
And if that’s not enough, Twitter has a lovely community of legal writing professors who are so generous with their advice like @EllieMargolis, @aerwrites, @mch_tweets, @RachelGurvich, etc.
But it’s not just about learning from the best, which that in itself is a huge perk. You can also form a community to bounce ideas around. For example, lots of people submit questions to @LadyLawyerDiary and lots of amazing people provide thoughtful responses.
As to specific tips: follow and engage with anyone who seems interesting to you. Most attorneys specify their subject areas in their Twitter bios or they might casually mention it through tweets.
And if someone says “feel free to contact me about X,” please, take them up on it.

It will take time to form connections, but that time can be particularly worthwhile. Lots of great people on here (if I try to mention every single one, I would never end this thread) are super generous with their time and happy to help others.
Finally, be respectful and mindful that the legal community is small. You don’t want to be insulting a professor just because they teach at a different school—remember your tweets are public (unless they’re not) and people can see them! They will remember you.
