People getting exercised about the Bashir interview with Diana are forgetting what was going on back then. Penny Junir had written a biography of Charles in the ‘80s with his help; Andrew Morton’s biography of Diana was published in the early ‘90 with help from her friends...
This was a family fighting a proxy war through biographies and newspaper articles. Diana had her favourite journalists in whom she would confide. The idea she was some unwitting dupe in the Bashir interview is the stuff of fantasy

Now, you’re not suggesting that this was not a very astute woman at the absolute height of her powers when it came to dealing with the media? This is not to say that as a very young woman she hadn’t been treated badly, but blimey had she turned the tables.
But now we’ve got a judge looking into the behaviour of journalists...and we all know how well that goes.
