!! Fictives !!
(And common misconceptions.)

Notes before we start: I speak from the perspective of an endogenic system. I also do *not* at any point in this thread speak for all fictives.

What I say below will never be true for everyone. Don’t put words in my mouth.
A few definitions before we start:

Fictive: a headmate who is (to whatever extent) derived from a fictional source, e.g. Homestuck, Doctor Who, etc.
Exomemories: also referred to as pseudomemories; memories of a source
Exotrauma: trauma(tic memories) from said source
And of course, source: a piece of media, like a game, book, webcomic, etc. that a headmate is “from.”
Things you should never say to a fictive:

“But you’re not real!” We are very much real. You are basically saying we’re faking.

“You’re [ableist slur relating to sanity].” I hope you can see why this is bad.

“You’re roleplaying.” We’re not roleplaying. We ARE that person.
On exomemories:

Exomemories feel just like real memories to many. Do not say they shouldn’t affect us/aren’t “real.”

Do not ask about our memories without our permission. Would you walk up to a stranger and ask them about your life? Probably not.

Exotrauma is real trauma. It is valid trauma. Say that again: EXOTRAUMA CAN ACTUALLY BE TRAUMATIC.

On that note, don’t laugh at a fictive’s triggers. *Exotrauma is not a joke.*
Please do not talk to us about our source without our permission. Many of us have upsetting sources, or would simply refer to distance themselves from it.

On that note, many people are strongly invested in our sources.
Some of us interact with our fandoms. Please let us do this in peace.

Just... treat us like you would any other person, you know? We’re people too.
If something you’re saying about a fictive(‘s source) makes them uncomfortable, please just... stop?

And don’t assume people who were “bad” in their sources are the same here. (Newsflash: we’re quite different.)

Fictives can be any gender and orientation.
(Yes, even if this “erases” their canon. We are not being malicious; generally speaking we cannot control our existence.)

Most of us are pretty aware our source is “problematic.” You can shut up about that, yeah? We get it. (Also, stop mocking us.)

We’re not “cringey.” We’re not “deluded.” We’re not something for you to laugh about and mess around with.

WE’RE PEOPLE TOO. Or did you just conveniently forget that? 🤔
Fictives can be hosts (in charge of a system).
Fictive-heavy systems are not faking; usually they’re neurodivergent.
A system made up entirely of fictives is just as valid as a system with no fictives.
A lot of us get fictives easily.
We’re still not faking.
If you’re still confused, you can ask questions below.
If you want to learn more, go talk to more systems!
Systems, if you have anything you want me to add, feel free to ask below.
And if you still don’t believe me, kindly fuck off, you ableist piece of shit.
