Feel a bit frustrated by the level of trans conversation that goes "are trans guys oppressor class like cis men, Y/N" as if things reduce in that simple way meaningfully at all. Both "no trans guys are soft and we love them", "trans guys are evil like cis guys" reduce all sorts..
..of aspects of relevant related questions in ways that are intensely frustrating to anything that matters.

Like somehow we need to square the way eg trans men are able to take the vast majority of academic roles around trans stuff, trans NGO roles etc, the way trans men like...
... Ben Barres have clearly written about the ways they were treated differently after transition, the way trans men at least after a certain amount of transition are considered trustworthy and safe in a way trans women are not.
And at the same time they face a lot of transphobia and systemic health access denial and specific biological difficulties which eg disproportionately affect them more than us around toilet difficulties, are expected to be strong and silent about some of the difficulties they..
..face in ways that we are perhaps not, and so on.

And all of that needs to be put into the perspective that focusing on whether or not trans guys have some sort of privilege is itself a dumb fuck question to be dealt with once we are done dealing with cis people, frankly.
I feel not for the first time like we need to adopt the more pluralistic and non-polar understanding of experiences of oppression that eg the disabled people's movement manages (where different groups under the umbrella experience different things which together constitute..
.. the wider system of oppression called disability, and, eg deaf people and blind people and people with mobility issues or others with mental health issues may each be oppressed directly in different and overlapping ways, without the combinations of those being the focal point)
PS: trans men can absolutely be culpable for shit, but are not always and hard and fast rules and discourse lawyering actively makes things worse.
