URGENT: #HumanRights Assistance Needed

Okay, Twitter friends & colleagues, I need your help. This is my friend Karim Ennarah—he was just arrested by Egypt’s National Security Agency. https://bit.ly/3nwsYXi
1/
Karim is the Director of Criminal Justice at the Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights (EIPR), one of Egypt’s leading human rights groups. For many of Egypt’s 102M+ citizens, EIPR is their only resource for basic rights protections.
2/
As the Director of Criminal Justice, Karim oversees protection for witnesses and victims, defense against prosecutions, & litigation support to name a few. As my friend, he made me feel welcomed and loved during my time in Egypt, w/ an unparalleled empathy and thoughtfulness.
3/
Karim’s arrest comes just days after his colleague Mohamed Basheer, EIPR’s Administrative Manager, was arrested and detained in response to a meeting EIPR held w/ international diplomats, including representatives from Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Italy...
4/
The Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland and Canada. The extreme sensitivity displayed by the Egyptian Government in dealing w/ the visit is a testament to just how bad the human rights situation is in Egypt, with citizens facing new kinds of rights violations...
5/
Which were not present five or ten years ago. Speaking with other friends on the ground, these are the most useful things that can help Karim’s case:
1) Journalism coverage from international media outlets; we need to spread Karim’s story far and wide...
6/
If any journalists bite, I can put you in touch w/ the folks at EIPR who are available for interviews and others on the ground.
2) Social media attention; getting anyone in your networks w/ large followings to talk about Karim and what’s happening in Egypt is better now...
7/
Before he's charged, to apply pressure on the Egyptian Government.
3) Legal support; we are looking for an International Human Rights Lawyer based *outside* of Egypt to provide counsel for Karim.
8/
I know we’re all stressed and tired from fighting our own human rights battles here in the States, but anything you can do to spread Karim’s story and/or put me in touch with other resources would be greatly appreciated.
9/
I have captured all of the above info into an image and posted in a tweet below if that is easier for people to share. Please don’t hesitate to contact me directly w/ contacts, resources or questions—my DMs are open. Thank you in advance! ❤️
