Our mission: find a collared deer that we thought was dead. Although while dead she seemed to cross the river...
We found her. She was dead. But looked relatively intact. And somebody had put in a lot of effort trying to hide her...

When we rolled her over she was more eaten than we thought
So we didnt get as many samples as we thought 
But its still a bit of a mystery. Did the lynx(s) kill her? Was she injured first? Why did she 'die', cross the river 3 days later, and then 'die' again?

Regardless it was a fun day of fieldwork. We recovered the collar. And we have lots to think about
Thanks again to the funders of this project we're not only learning about ungulates and forest harvesting for caribou conservation, but also learning lots about deer ecology in the boreal forest
