I’m only half way thru Obama’s memoir & I have a lot of thoughts, but the thing that’s stood out to me the most: How often he reflects & questions whether the sacrifices he’s made w/r/t his family, marriage, & kids — the time & energy away from them — was always worth it.
Upon completion, my biggest takeaway from the memoir: A dream job is still a *job* and even when it’s a privilege and honor, it still sucks more often than not.
But also: Obama’s memoir is beautifully written, compelling, surprisingly quick even though it’s long, vulnerable (if occasionally defensive), and should absolutely be on your reading list, especially paired with Michelle’s memoir.
