Gucci Mane vs. Jeezy

A history of the beef between these two titans of trap (Thread)
In 2005 Jeezy and Gucci recorded a song called “So Icy” Jeezy was led to believe that it would land on his album “Thug Motivation 101” however before Thug Motivation was released Gucci Mane had released it for his album “Trap House” without Jeezy’s approval
Jeezy, pissed off from the So Icy situation, released the song “Stay Strapped” on this song Jeezy places a Ten Thousand dollar bounty to anyone that snatches Gucci Mane’s chain.
Gucci Mane responds to the diss with the song Round 1, Gucci claims that Jeezy is fake and he stated that he’s ready for a fight and that this was just gonna be Round 1 in a long battle. He was right.
Not a week after Gucci dropped the diss track four men broke into a house where Gucci was with a girlfriend. The men beat him up and threatened to shoot him. He grabbed his pistol and killed one of the intruders, the other three fled the scene.
The man Gucci killed was Pookie Loc, who was signed to Jeezy’s label. While Jeezy denies any involvement it’s widely believed that Pookie was sent by Jeezy to beat up and rob Gucci Mane. Gucci mane turned himself in but was acquitted on self defense nine months later.
About a year since the last diss, Gucci Mane released “745” which takes shots at Jeezy and criticizes him, calling him a pussy for sending a hit on Gucci instead of dealing with it himself. There was no response from Jeezy for nearly 3 years.
A couple years after the release of 745 Gucci collabed with DJ Drama who was a longtime collaborator of Jeezy. At a screening for a movie Jeezy’s and Drama’s crews got in a fight and in following interviews Jeezy called Drama a bitch.
A few months after the fight Jeezy sent some shots towards Gucci on the song “24-23”. However it was just a single line on an otherwise unrelated song. After no retaliation Gucci Mane said in an interview that a collab with Jeezy was in the works.
Gucci and Jeezy had a song set to come out in a couple weeks but then Waka Flocka Flame and other members of Gucci’s crew got in a fight with Jeezy’s associates. Waka’s security guards fired a couple shots but thankfully no one was hit.
After the altercation the single that was planned never dropped. Gucci Mane said in an interview that he couldn’t see himself collabing with Jeezy again but they squashed the beef. Jeezy seemed to echo this message as he said the beef was all just a misunderstanding.
A year later Jeezy and Rick Ross got in a fight at the BET Awards and in an interview Gucci said that he was friends with Ross and that Gucci has no respect for Jeezy. Jeezy was asked about Gucci and he called him retarted and that he wouldn’t go back and forth with him.
Gucci Mane drops Truth, one of the most disrespectful, cutthroat diss tracks of all time. He disrespects his friend he murdered, how Jeezy is a bad father and that the woman he was in love with was fucking other men.
The whole day following the release of Truth, Gucci would use Twitter to throw shots at Jeezy. At one point betting $100,000 that he could beat up Young Jeezy. Jeezy would never respond to truth or the remarks on Twitter.
About 6 months after the release of Truth, Gucci plead guilty to drug and gun charges, he served 3 years and was released in 2016. Post prison Gucci is a different man, sober, in shape, laid back and enjoying his freedom. There hasn’t been any shots thrown either way since.
Recently Gucci Mane shared a couple memes to his Instagram one that pokes fun at the 2005 death of Pookie Loc, and the other that references Gucci’s diss track “Truth”
And now a Verzus battle has been announced. With all the history there I’m beyond excited.

Tune in on November 19th to watch the Gucci Mane and Jeezy Verzus.
