Speaking to the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce by Zoom, NU President Ted Carter says Nebraska has "never really gotten full credit" for the Big Ten's decision to plan football this fall. He says Nebraska's efforts also brought back the Pac-12, too.
Carter says UNL will stay in the Big Ten, "even though it's not a perfect fit" in all areas. He says he thinks Big Ten Commissioner Kevin Warren has gone through "a big learning curve," this year.
"We're a proud member of the Big Ten, and we're intending on staying that way," Carter says.

Adds he believes the Huskers will continue to build momentum through the rest of the season.
Carter says he's apolitical as president of NU. He was apolitical for 38 years as a member of the military, so he has experience. Says he's a registered independent.

That will lead him to do the things that are in the best interest of the university.
Earlier in his Face the Chamber, Carter said he believes that in-person instruction will continue to be "the coin of the realm" in higher education, but that colleges and universities will need to be increasingly flexible to meet student demand.
Carter also said NU will seek to get more funding from state lawmakers to rehab its 900 buildings across the state (that's about 72% of all state-owned buildings). Deferred maintenance costs are $2 BILLION.
