My opinion on what the #Bears should do in the 2021 offseason right now a little over the mid season point in a thread below:
First things first is to take a good look at where our biggest positives and negatives are...
I would say our positives right now are...
•Defensive Coaching
•Defensive line
•Linebackers
•Secondary
•TEs
•Special teams
•Wide Receivers
And I would say our negatives right now our...
•Offensive Coaching
•Quarterback
•Offensive Line
•Running Backs
•Head Coach
•General Manager
Just looking over at our negatives right now, the 4 biggest problems to me right now our...
•General Manager
•Head Coach
•Offensive Line
•Quarterback
The real #1 problem to me right now is our General Manager, Ryan Pace.
He has made some good moves with the team through draft/FA (especially on defense) but he has had 3 shots at 3 QBs and missed on all 3 and that is obviously the biggest personnel issue on this team and plus the failure to address the offensive line each year is really showing up.
I would say right out of the gate when the offseason starts, Pace needs to be gone.
I would say the #2 problem with this team after Week 10 is head coach Matt Nagy.
Nagy has won us many games and knows how to set up a great team culture but no point in setting up a great culture if you can’t figure out X’s and O’s. Nagy was hired to be as an offensive guru and currently has the worst offense in the NFL.
I don’t think Nagy has the real personnel he likes but you are supposed to play to your players strengths and has yet to do that so far, I would still give Nagy another year because the players still believe in the guy and we need that to have a winning locker room.
The #3 problem with this team right now in my opinion right now is the quarterback room.
If we are going to be honest with ourselves, this is the worst quarterback room in the league. Foles and Mitch debates are so cringe because they are both are just not good. There has to be a revamp in the quarterback room as soon as possible.
The #4 problem with this bears team right now is the offensive line.
This is definitely a bottom 3 offensive line in the league right now but we do have some players with upsides. I really like our new o-line coach Juan Castillo but our personnel is not good. Besides for Cody Whitehair and James Daniels, everyone else needs to go ASAP.
Lucky for us, we can easily fix our problems because we finally have some draft capital this year and decent amount of cap space to sign some serious players in free agency.
Some candidates for cuts/trades for us our...
•Buster Skrine
•Anthony Miller
•Rashaad Coward
•Charles Leno
I think the most likely players to get cut are Buster Skrine and Rashaad Coward, they both are just not good at their jobs. I could also definitely see Anthony Miller getting shopped for trades in the offseason as well.
We currently rank #22 in cap space for 2021 but that still gives us some room to sign some big names and keep some our bigger named guys around.
Our 3 biggest free agents this offseason are...
•Allen Robinson
•Cordarrelle Patterson
•Mitchell Trubisky
I’m only mentioning these three because most of our free agents are most likely to come back to the team and are not as big as these guys.
Obviously our #1 free agent this year is 100% Allen Robinson. He is our best player on offense and gives this team life when he needs to. His current market value is around 17-20 mil per year. At all costs, this is a must re-sign for Ryan Pace if he is still here.
I would say that Cordarrelle Patterson is our #2 biggest FA because he also brings juice to this team through KR. His production at RB isn’t great but he is a good receiving threat, his current market value is 5-8 mil per year, would be nice to bring him back.
Our #3 biggest free agent probably won’t re-sign with us but he is a big name so I wanted to mention him. Mitchell Trubisky obviously didn’t want to start his career the way he did with us but hopefully he can revive his career in a new system and excels.
Lets move on to the other NFL free agents in the league and looks at what we need, our current team needs as follows our...
•QB
•G
•LT
•WR
Lets look at our options for each position...
QB: Dak Prescott, Phillip Rivers, Andy Dalton, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Tyrod Taylor

Not a lot of intriguing names for starters besides Dak but I doubt the Bears have the money to go all in and get Dak right now so nothing in FA for QBs for the Bears.
But I also could see the Bears shopping for some of the young QBs in the league like Sam Darnold or Dwanye Haskins, wouldn’t mind that.
G: Brandon Scherff & Joe Thuney

Some big names here for guards and both would be massive upgrades over Germain Ifedi right now, both asking for around 12-14 mil per year and it is kinda worth it based on what we have at G right now.
LT: Trent Williams, Russell Okung, Garrett Bolles, & Alejandro Villanueva

This is just assuming somehow Charles Leno gets cut because he sucks but the most realistic options here are Villanueva & Bolles but I personally don’t think the Bears sadly don’t cut Leno this year.
WR: Sammy Watkins, Kenny Stills, & Breshad Perriman

A lot of bigger names than these guys but I’m trying to be realistic, lots of intriguing names in this FA class. I see the Bears going for Stills/Perriman and I do think they go ahead and sign either one to be their WR2.
I have the bears finishing 8-8 and 3rd in the NFC North. At this point at Week 10, the Bears currently have the #16, #48, #79, #156, #193, #215, #220 picks in the 2021 NFL draft.
My current 2021 NFL Mock draft for the bears would be...
#16- Wyatt Davis, IOL, Ohio State
#48- Mac Jones, QB, Alabama
#79- Walker Little, OT, Stanford
#156- Ar’Darius Washington, S, TCU
#193- Ronnie Bell, WR, Michigan
#215- Kingsley Enagbare, EDGE, SC
#220- Frank Darby, WR, ASU
Obviously the biggest names in this mock are the top 3 picks...
Picking Wyatt Davis at #16 is the best move for us by a mile. I think Davis is a day 1 starter for us, he is the best IOL in this draft and could change the whole narrative of our offensive line day 1.
Mac Jones at pick #48 makes too much sense, elite down the field passer with great upside. He is having one of best years for a QB in Alabama history. Would love to make him our franchise guy after watching the tape.
