Sports blog and sports media aficionados, I'd like to tell you quick story that is specifically relevant today but has always been relevant. It's not very well known and for me was the most impressive thing @edsbs has ever done.
As you may have seen there is a lot chatter today about the Giants firing their offensive coach. While mildly interesting I guess, the bulk of interest is because of one person's tweet which has since been debunked many many many times by much much much more credible people
This takes us back to summer of 2010 for the Blogs With Ball conference held in Chicago. The world was obviously a very different place

At the end of a panel discussion during Q&A time, Spencer turned the whole panel on it's head. The following from @mgoblog's recap of this moment which I implore you read in it's entirety.

Blogs With Balls had I think around a half dozen events. I attended half but can say BY FAR this was its best moment. This was brutally honest discourse and conflict about standards, truth in media, responsible reporting, and our collective role in all of that.
I remember thinking how surreal this SUPER contentious and awkward moment was for such friendly somewhat fluffy industry event.
But Spencer saw the forrest through the trees on this issue. New media folks had figured out a grift of throwing up bullshit for traffic and engagement

A decade later Spencer is looking to find their next full time home after having been recently laid off. Meanwhile Jason is gainfully employed at Fox and reporting totally bullshit scoops of a NFL head coach being in a fist fight.
Sadly, none of this is surprising whatsoever
