I can confirm that the results are in!

For each shoe, I ran for 5 minutes at 16 km/hr (6:02/mile), while having my oxygen consumption and heart rate measured. This was repeated twice so that we had two recordings for each shoe. Data from the final 2 minutes was used in the... https://twitter.com/Dan_Nash94/status/1328973599496151040
analysis. Oxygen consumption (ml/kg/min) for each shoe type was:

NB 1080- 56.8
NB FuelCell Elite RC- 54.5
Nike Next%- 53.0

If we use the NB 1080s (general mileage shoe) as the comparator, the FuelCell Elite gave a 4.1% improvement in economy while the Next% gave 6.6%
Heart rate followed a very similar trend, with average values (and % HR decreases) for the final two minutes being:

NB 1080- 147
NB FuelCell Elite RC- 144 (1.8%)
Nike Next%- 143 (2.8%)
However, there are a few caveats:

1) This was an N =1 study and there is evidence that, just like for medication, some people will see large benefits while others much less

2) The Next% were brand new (0 miles), while the FuelCell's had done ~100 miles & the 1080s ~2000 miles
3) In the context of marathon running it would be preferable to look at economy over a longer duration. A reported benefit of these shoes are that they help "save your legs" for the final 10k

4) This was done on a treadmill and results many not translate to outside running
Overall, the results mostly met my perceptions of the shoes in that the NB FuelCell RC's do provide a mechanical advantage, but not to the same degree as the Nike Next%. As this is NB's 1st generation of "supershoe" though, I think we can expect more to come with their next model
