Never thought I'd be siding with Logan Paul but he really... triumphed in this manly debate about manliness. As for backwards hat guy, his is the exact rhetorical strategy that oppressors use every day to make marginalized folks feel like they're in the wrong. https://twitter.com/cuntrolharold/status/1329075487574953984
For those looking for a good reading on power and how it works this is a good play by play. 1. Hat guy says something stupid, judgmental, aggressive. 2. Paul calls him out and asks legitimate questions (what is manliness) 3. Hat gets defensive and then claims that PAUL is judgy
4. Paul says "wheres my judgy??" 5. Hat says "you won't let me express my ~~subjective opinion~~" (which was not a subject opinion, but a regurgitation of the power structure in which he/we were raised) 6. Paul's original question was, and I quote, "what is manliness?"
5. Here's the tricky and most important part of this very important thread that no one else will read: Paul gets his chance to clear his name. In fact he reappears as the victor bc he stood his ground. SIX (6) only people that look like Paul have the full opportunity to do that
SIIIIIIIIXXXXX If you do not have the privilege of looking like Paul, people will assign your calm, reasoned, logical challenge to inherited power structures as "flaws" of your identity. I.e. frumpy feminist, angry black woman, playing the race card, playing the gay card
