There is irony within this week embedded in the pressure placed upon trans individuals by cis individuals:

We are expected to work harder throughout the very week in which we are highlighted to educate those outside of our community.
This being our reality, I call upon all cisgender individuals to add your voices in support.

Let today be one in which you speak out about the discrimination trans individuals face every day.
This could be:

donating money to trans-led organizations such as
@deafqueer
@theokraproject
@glits_inc
@citgny
educating yourself by reading books like Beyond The Gender Binary by @alokvmenon , Fairest by @1demerith , Amateur by @ThomasPageMcBee , or Redefining Realness by @janetmock !
Now that you’ve educated yourself, you will be able to identify the continuum of transphobia. Strive to disallow comments of toxicity and pain to pass you by
remind your friends within our community that you love and support them
even posting about the significance of this week and encouraging other cisgender individuals to speak up as well may have a larger impact than you will ever know
I keep going, through this week, with the hopes that one year, there will be no new names to remember.

Thank you to those who speak up and take the time to educate themselves!

You give me hope.
