Reading opinions/editorials in WaPo and NYT advising president-elect to give up on getting what country needs from Congress, quickly take whatever Senator McConnell will agree to provide. Reaction: please think again!
Please Ds take your time to get this right because: (1) you can win Georgia seats and control Senate,
(2) there are a number of R Senators who prize their post-Trump legacy or their presidential prospects, and so do not want to be labelled as in favor of letting Americans die, and letting survivors go without work, and
(3) Trump probably would veto any deal from Congress until noon January 20, 2021, and
(4) We don't know what medical and economic problem we need the Biden Administration to solve, because the twin crises of pandemic and economic slump are rapidly changing even as I type and you dear tweet readers read,
(5) And if the departing president taught anything worth learning it was and is that by using social media a president can be immensely persuasive with other elected officials, so why not wait until Joe Biden is president to see...
how he can shape and use public opinion to do what needs doing, as opposed to what right now Senator McConnell (who isn't known for a broad view about the whole country's needs) is willing to acknowledge as necessary.
