#NJ #COVID19 Venting thread. Here's the problem with NJ and testing in general. This is the leading provider in South Jersey for testing. They are booked 7 days from today. 1/

So a day or 2 ago, I feel symptoms. It takes me a little while to realize it could be covid. I log on for an appointment. The first available is in 7 days. I wait 7 days. Now I'm 9 days since symptoms started and get tested. I wait. 2 days later I get results. I'm positive! /2
So what did we just do? We made a covid positive patient wait 9 days to get results, and that person is now 11 days since symptoms first started. But wait, theres more. Now the Governor gets a readout on the following day (Day 12 from IO) and calls you a "new case in NJ" /3
So, now on day 11 your quarantine starts. But, because the results came in on day 11, they list you with an Illness Onset date of the test date. Then, once you are +12 from illness onset, you have a result, the state has your result, you're now a "positive new case". /4
In a few days, contact tracers call you and attempt to discern when and how you got infected. Now we are +14 days from IO, and contact tracers try to find out who you came in contact with. /5
But heres the thing. Whoever you came in contact with, is already past THEIR infectious period too.

So, why are we testing?
Why are we reporting them as new?
Why are tracers chasing ghosts?
Why are we quarantining the non-infectious
