1/One more thread about what this means: @KannoYoungs points out that this ratchets up pressure on Biden to end the T42 border ban, which he hasn't committed to doing yet. Indeed. https://twitter.com/itscaitlinhd/status/1329091185269358600
2/Complicating matters, Biden's advisors will point out that any policy change, or the anticipation of one, could cause a surge at the border and thus, an even bigger problem. TLDR: We're already seeing how Biden's immigration agenda will be tested.
3/Evidence of the above: We will likely see parents living in the squalid camps in Mexico sending their kids across international bridges alone almost immediately - like today - as a result of the ruling, so the kids can be reunited with fam in the US. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/10/23/us/mexico-migrant-camp-asylum.html?smid=tw-share
4/Though safer than sending kids across the river alone -- which was the only way of getting them to safety before the ruling -- it still results in separation. This is how 4 years of restrictions layer onto each other & reflects the choices put before parents ensnared in them.
