This is not an AUL position. It's a glorified diversity residency.
"With strong support of the library’s senior leadership, the AUL for Antiracism will help synthesize, integrate and further catalyze the library’s equity, diversity, inclusion, belonging, and antiracism efforts."
So @HarvardLibrary you do realize that in creating this position you're putting the work of dismantling systematic racism in your library on one person? How can library administration invest in diversity reforms collectively when they have an anti-racism czar doing all the work?
What about job sustainability and future relevancy for whoever becomes the AUL for Anti-racism? If a new UL comes in who does not see this as a strategic area or there are budget cuts, does this new AUL position become expendable? How is this AUL post envisioned 10 yrs from now?
