Reflecting on my childhood & realize that my dad raised me a lil differently than my siblings who do not present as Black like me. He always sat down w me & said “people are going to doubt you bc of who you are.” He taught me how to argue with yt folks & to win
He also told me about how to stay calm in case of police officers/authority figures who are being aggressive or out of control. I think this is a unique experience that Black Salvis go through that others might not
In research we call these conversations racial socialization. It happens in AA families, whom most of research on racial socialization focuses on.
