I've noticed over the past two weeks is that it would be really helpful if more journalists had the quantitative literacy to combat misinformation about the election. It is not easy. But countless "Journalist-does-math" tweets have been tongue-in-cheek but really worrisome. https://twitter.com/_RichardHall/status/1329080738151448583
Journalists are on the front lines here, but I'm also looking at educators across the curriculum. We need to make sure we are not succumbing to pressures to reduce rigor in quantitative sciences or to avoid uncomfortable discussions that may have politicized overtones.
A good thread recently from @UniverseAndMore noted the importance of requiring students to engage in the process of sense-making rather than delivering information from a place of authority. That is reflected in how people are responding to misinformation from people with power.
