NEWS: Karine Jean-Pierre has emerged as a top candidate for Biden's WH press secretary, multiple sources tell  @mikememoli, @kwelkernbc and me.

She would be the first Black woman in that role.

Symone Sanders has also been discussed and has recently focused on Harris’ transition.
No final decisions have been made, officials stress, as the emerging West Wing leadership also considers how to structure the communications office in a rapidly-changing media environment.
Kate Bedingfield, communications director for the campaign, is seen as the likeliest choice to serve in the same post in the White House, as she also did in the final year of Biden's vice presidency. Bedingfield had also been considering the press secretary role.
Officials are also considering external candidates for press secretary. One idea under discussion would be a hybrid role that includes a policy focus while also serving as one of the administration's chief public faces, perhaps separate from the traditional press secretary role.
Final decisions on the communications jobs are not expected until next week at the earliest. - reporting via @mikememoli, @kwelkernbc and me
