I feel like #LGBTQinSTEMDay and #PolarPride Day is probably a good opportunity to poke my head above the snow and post a bit about what my research in the Arctic entails...

I am a
looking at the ways in which climate change is affecting Inuinnait food systems in the Canadian High Arctic
Pictured below is the community I am lucky enough to work in for some of the (non-COVID) year, Ulukhaktok, ISR.

Community members also record their activities for us in to give us a better understanding of how climate change is affecting subsistence activities throughout the year.
I am fortunate enough sometimes to go on harvesting trips out of the community (it can get a bit cold)

We also ask community members how other parts of daily life are affecting their ability to source land-based (otherwise termed 'country') foods. This contextualises climate change, and works to qualify its impact relative to other challenges
