One of the other thing that jumps out at me in this new @commonwealthfnd report is much different/smaller our maternal care workforce is compared to other countries. Much of the difference is due to fewer midwifes working in the U.S. than elsewhere.
The United States and Canada are the only two countries where OBGYNs outnumber midwifes. They also had the two highest maternal mortality rates in 2018, per this report.
