Best last night and I needed to lean on @LaFemme_Negrita for support. She stayed on mission and let us know who to contact & made sure we all knew we were gonna fight this together. Detroit wasn’t going out like that. They had those Facebook pages up in minutes & exposed them
For the racists they are in front of the world while Black folks and white allies ( that’s what a real ally looks like BTW) held it down at the meeting and spoke up. We carried each other. That’s what Detroit has come to mean to me. Resilience and strength. We get back up time
And time again and when we need a little bit of extra help someone is there extending their hand. I was truly shell shocked & was of no use to anyone last night. I truly thought I had seen it all when they appointed emergency managers to every predominantly Black City in Michigan
And then tried to apply Medicaid work requirements for predominantly Black cities while exempting rural white areas. I can’t even pretend like I aided in the fight last night bc I felt so defeated. I am so grateful to the ppl who carried us through & who stared racism in the face
And let them know they would be known throughout Michigan as two racists who wanted to disenfranchise Black voters while certifying a 95% white city w/ bigger discrepancies. I don’t think they would have budged if it hadn’t been for the exposure. Thank you
