Public Health may never recover from its failures during this pandemic

Why? - They are making the Exact same mistakes they made during the 1980’s AIDS crisis

“Blame and Shame” is NOT how you educate people

1
Heavy-handed mandates with no rhyme or reason. Bringing a sledgehammer when a small scalpel is needed

Arbitrary triggers for various NPI’s. Why are we still using % positive as a guide for NPIs? (Following the viral levels in sewage waste actually makes more sense.)

2
School closure seems to be a PECULIARLY American thing at this point

3
“Do as I Say...Not as I Do” seems to be rampant among certain mayors and governors

This is not leadership. It’s tyranny

4
Rank Hypocrisy

Certain events are considered “morally” okay....riots and protests for example....while other events are “selfish and stupid”...

5
Abandonment of long-held views on pandemic management

Draconian Lockdowns were frowned upon for good reason

But...We threw away the playbook....and I can’t explain why. (This is how conspiracy theories start FWIW)

6
Lack of humility

We even have one governor who has written a book on Leadership despite some really questionable decisions....and results

7
How do we fix this?

I don’t know

Leaders...state and local...can start by actually communicating with the people they represent

Communication
Truth, Trust, and Transparency
Respect and Humility
Empathy
Leadership by example
Look to the community, not Twitter
