A short thread on applying for a job in the NHS…

NHS Jobs can have strange job titles, but the advert and job purpose should make it clear what the job is. Make sure you read this and if you have questions, phone or email for more information 1/
We closed the applications early with 63 applications for a part-time a senior administrator post and the impact is of COVID-19 is clear. The competition for jobs is immense, so having read 63 applications, here is some advice 2/
1. Make sure you fill in all the boxes with as much information as possible, try not to use acronyms, check dates names, spelling, and continuity of education, past jobs, and make sure you put something in the box explaining why there might be gaps. 3/
2. Tell me about your experience, but bear in mind we will judge by how well you match the person specification part of the job description. Try to keep it relevant 4/
3. We welcome applications from people who want a career change, who want to work in the NHS, etc. but if you can’t show that you understand what we do, and tell me why this is important to you it make it hard to see why you might be the person for the job /5
4. When it comes to supporting information it really helps if you cover off the person spec essential criteria, but don’t just list stuff, try to tailor it to the role you are applying for /6
5. Try to make the supporting information more of a narrative about you. If you don’t meet an essential criteria, but you think you can do the job, tell me this, and why! /7
6. Demonstrate that you understand what we do, look at our values, tell me why these are important to you as well /8
7. If you don’t tell me, I won’t know about it /9
8. Check spellings! Enough said here /10
9. and finally. good luck /end
