ICYMI: @social_rights and @CA_global recently published a report that asks: what would it look like if we had an economy based on #humanrights?

Quick summary #thread: 1/8

In a #RightsBasedEconomy, everyone would be guaranteed the material, social and environmental conditions to live with dignity. 2/8
Why center #HumanRights in this vision for #EconomicJustice? Rights give flesh and force to values people say they want reflected in the economy: dignity, equity, solidarity, accountability and justice. 3/8
Embedding these values means transforming critical areas of economic policy like #SocialProtection or #TaxJustice—using a #HumanRights lens to replace neoliberal approaches with those that meaningfully shift power. 4/8
Of course, we need concrete policy changes—like wealth taxes, living wages, mandatory due diligence for corporations, #debt cancellation 5/8
But policy fixes alone are not enough. We also need sweeping, systemic shifts in our economic models, mindsets and measurements 6/8
#COVID19 has exposed the injustices at the heart of our economic systems. Now is the time to do the collective work of transformation: to put #HumanRights and dignity at the center of our economies. 7/8
