... More than 1,000 Iowa health care providers and agencies have filled out applications and received state approval to help administer the coronavirus vaccinations. More than 100 of those are in Polk County.
... Iowa officials have been advised not to hold back vaccine for the initial recipients’ follow-up shots. The feds’ advice: “Get as many shots into as many arms as you can with that initial allocation, and additional supplies will be on the way.”
... Polk County plans to have most of its coronavirus vaccine administered by private clinics and pharmacies. With the pandemic raging, the health department would rather not hold mass shot clinics, like this 2009 one at the State Fairgrounds for H1N1 vaccine:
