I’ve always been a fan of @bbcdoctorwho ever since I was a kid but I’ve never felt more included than I have during its current era. Here’s a few reasons why:
It all started back in 2017. Jodie was announced to the world as the new doctor and everybody was positively buzzing. Slightly sceptical like any announcement of a new doctor but very excited!

Little did I know this single announcement would lead me on the path I’m on now.
A few months past, news was quiet on the ground at the time. So Christmas 2017 comes along, exciting but sad at the same time.

Peter steps down and Jodie pops onto screen. A beautiful moment. You should have seen my face. I was so starstruck at a history defining moment for DW.
At this moment, buzzing with excitement I literally applauded at the screen. I was watching it alone but I felt like I was with thousands of fans on a spiritual level.

I hit up the internet. Twitter, Instagram, you name it! Talking about my thoughts
A few months go by and Jodies first promo is released. You know, the one pictured here.

I’m AMAZED. I tell you. It was a wild moment:

The colours? Wow. The vibe? Classic! This incarnation was really shaping up to be the PERFECT ambassador for the show.
Following on from this I start looking online. I’m a cosplayer you see and I was DYING to see someone take on this costume.

That’s when I stumbled across @georgiiaagrace , one of the first people I ever saw online take on the costume. It was cool so I messaged her of course!
Little did I know that 5 months later, @georgiiaagrace would become my girlfriend of now 2 & and a half years.

I never knew her, but the power of this show and Jodie Whittaker alone essentially bought us together in circumstances that would never have happened otherwise.
It was after this that things really went wild and it propelled me down the path I’m still on.

It was the summer of 2018, San Diego comic con was gearing up for series 11 promotion so me and Georgia entered a competition by @DoctorWho_BBCA to Welcome Jodie Whittaker.
Little did we know that a week or so later we’d be contacted directly to be told they want to feature our video!

Oh how exciting! It was only later we realised we were on a big screen in front of thousands, saying hello to Jodie and giving her a warm welcome. Outstanding, truly.
After this things got even wilder. We managed to bag a couple of wristbands for the Series 11 red carpet premiere in Sheffield!

Now this is where it becomes exciting! We attend early morning and were the first in queue. I spot the new Tardis, get a picture etc.
I was already losing it at this point. I’d just leaned on the new Tardis, never before seen in public like this (apart from filming).

ID TOUCHED THE NEW TARDIS. LIKE THATS CRAZY!
Anyway the day moves on, time flies as we stand in the cold. BBC approach us and ask “can we take your picture”. We agree of course and they take it, not realising it’s going on their social media.

We dominated the Internet that day because almost everyone recognised us 😂
After this we were ushered over to the red carpet, got our shiny new wristbands and stood by the barrier. Now this was a strike of luck because the barrier was EXACTLY where the news cameras set up so we were right up close to the action!

As seen below:
After this, interviews go by and we hear some cheering and there she is. The new Doctor, bubbling with positivity. Something about her happiness was so infectious, I couldn’t help but smile!

I was a meter or two away from the Doctor at the start of her era! I was BUZZING!
And after all this! All the interviews, the tears of joy from @georgiiaagrace and @braveheartamy who were clinging on to me for dear life 😂 she came over to us and it resulted in some pretty fantastic pictures! Here’s mine for reference:
She was lovely, truly an amazing person and she’s the perfect ambassador for this show!

So kind and endearing. She’d already cemented herself as the Doctor for me.
Shortly after of course I met Chibnall, the man behind the scripts and the stories. And he was lovely!

We had a lovely little chat about his tie, which almost seemed to mimic Tom bakers 4th Doctor scarf in design. He was brilliant and very funny!
After this we spoke with Mandip, Tosin. Waved at Bradley from a afar (he was busy meeting other fans) and that was the end of this experience. And truly, it will live with me forever.
After this moment, what proceeded in the following 2 years (2019 & 2020), was a plethora of promotional work for myself and @georgiiaagrace, working on a few projects alongside @Maze_Theory and @Lovarzi & now @zavvi ❤️

How exciting to be offered opportunities like this years on!
And on top of all this, the fandom. Despite differences, despite opposing sides one thing I can say for certain is this.

I appreciate @bbcdoctorwho for the show it is and what it’s done for me. It’s changed my life and alongside the many lovely fans who I’ve come to know.
The lovely fans I’ve come to know, whether they’re close to home or friends I value, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Honourable mentions to the likes of @acecreeptwo , @CrispeeePro , @thewhoaddicts , people who continuously remind me that this fandom is good at heart.
To conclude, Doctor Who really has shaped my life and has lead me to where I am now. And I’ve never felt more included in this weird and wonderful show that continues to break boundaries and continues to give me hope, even in the darkest of times.
