Just reflecting still on the #DINSummit, revisiting some of the insights. Fantastic event I thoroughly enjoyed and recommend wholeheartedly @disruptiveIan @PaulBromford @insidehousing A few reflections...
1) If you weren't at the #DINSummit, you don't see the magic. It's not the same reading a report or receiving by word of mouth or email from a colleague who did attend. You have to be in it, to win it. Same often with other forums/ ideas.
2) Although ideas+solutions are sexy. It's maybe 1/3 of the story. Do we need events that place emphasis on creative problem / challenges / opportunities scoping/ definition (IMHO only a few do well) and instead assume they know the problem and solution at the beginning, and ...
3) Do we need an industry equiv of Brompton F#$k up Friday. Celebrate failure or event, to learn about 1) how we set out the problems/ hypothesis we want to tackle 2) ideas that develop 3) as well as how things go wrong (or unexpected) + what we can learn. @MuseumofFailure
Put another way, are we obsessed with solutions so much that we lose sight of what we can learn by being more balanced with problem and failure focus
