Let's talk about clesnsers: There are 9 different type of cleansers that target different needs...

1. Cleansing balm
2. Cleansing oil
3. Micellar water
4. Gel cleanser
5. Foam cleanser
6. Cream/Milk cleanser
7. Bar cleanser
8. Powder cleanser
9. Clay cleanser
1. Cleansing balm - aim to get-away make-up (even waterproof make-up) and impurities. This is the first step to double cleansing even you do not use make-up.
2. Cleansing oil - perform same function as a balm but it is made out of oil instead. This one is great, 400ml for R285
3. Micellar water - this also works as a make-up remover although not as effective as the balm and oil. I prefer this one because it is infused with oil and requires minimal effort.
4. Gel cleanser - has a clear jelly-like consistency, used to deep clean and unclogs/decongestants pores, removes excess oil and bacteria that causes acne. I prefer a hydrating cleanser that does not strip the skin. A cheaper alternative to the COSRX Good morning low ph cleanser
5. Foam cleanser - aim to remove dirt and any skin impurities. The water activates the foam and my experience is that most of these tend to irritate the eyes...also drying/striping the skin because of the ingredient that makes the foam, sodium lauryl sulphate!
6. Cream cleanser - usually made for dry and sensitive skin. They have a lotion consistency and mostly moisturizing. Not ideal for oily skin (cause clogging).
7. Bar cleanser- most of us grew up using bar soap on the face that were too harsh, too stripping and had fragrance. Bar cleansers for the face are formulated soap-free. This one has oat as an ingredient which is calming.
8. Powder cleanser - these are the least popular cleansers. They come in powder-form and require water to activate the lather. I tend to choose powder cleanser that have enzymes as main ingredient to gently exfoliate the skin.
9. Clay cleanser- clay cleansers are usually mattifying therefore good for oily skin to reduce excess oils and decongestants pores. Not ideal for dry skin.

I usual leave it on for 1 minute to a semi-dry texture before rinsing off.
