Our new report on government procurement during #COVID19 finds inadequate documentation on key decisions for some contracts, such as how suppliers were chosen or how potential conflicts of interest were managed.

By 31 July, over 8,600 contracts, worth £18 billion, related to government’s response to the pandemic had been awarded.

80% of contracts were for PPE. We will publish a separate report on #PPE this month: http://orlo.uk/NAO_wip_v57yC  (2/4)
The cross-government PPE team established a high-priority lane for PPE leads referred by Parliamentarians and government officials.

About 10% of suppliers processed through this lane obtained contracts, compared to under 1% of suppliers processed through the ordinary lane. (3/4)
If procuring goods urgently again, government should clearly document how they identified and managed potential conflicts of interest and bias.

Government should ensure that basic information on contracts is published within 90 days of the award. (4/4)
