if you are doing electoral campaigns your choices are republicans and democrats. the majority of people in dsa are not under some illusion that we will turn the democratic party into a communist party.

building DSA and doing mass organization is how we take down the democratic AND republican party. electoralism will not bring us socialism itself but it is a tool we can use to organize enough people to challenge capitalism

i just care about winning, this obsession with "dsa needs to break from the dem party right now" is just unstrategic and naive lol. we are currently winning with this strategy lets keep doing it and doing mass scale tenant and labor organizing and mutual aid projects

if i were in a trotskyist microsect i would simply understand that dsa is a mass org and not a cadre org and instead develop positive relationships with it or join it en masse to form a caucus to politically influence it instead of shitting on aoc on twitter & being useless

i also would not shit on dsa on the basis of my org being "further left" than it when the national positions of dsa on like, basic ideas around internationalism are actually better than my org

i am, hot take, against the dem cent bylaw! (our chapter overruled it for our local bylaws)

1. dsa has more political power than the green party
2. if dsa did a dirty break we would lose almost all of our political traction in the realm of electoral politics which hurts every other field of work we're doing and be just as useless as the green party
