"So, this was my mum. And she was a nurse and she lived a very upbeat life. But as time wore on, she was a woman who suffered from bipolar."
Hunt says there were many dark moments but also light moments when referring to his mother.

A nurse, he also describes his mother as an amateur gastronome who grew her own food & knew ways to keep it. Unfortunately, the nature of her condition meant that sometimes she was a little out-of-touch with modern food hygiene standards. "She had this thing for large salamis."

And I can bet that I am the only person to have been chased around a dining room table with a mother wielding a five-kilogram mouldy salami as a potential life-threatening weapon.

Hunt says his mother spent time in & out of mental institutions . One of his earliest vivid memories is of her chasing him around the kitchen table with a carving knife. He has spoken of metaphorical darkness around events in his life at the time.

HUNT spent about a year living on a Kibbutz in Israel when he was 18. He learned the language & about culture.
