my thoughts on chuu’s place in loona lore: a quickly thrown together thread by yours truly!
ok let’s start with the heart attack mv and what i think it tells us! some of the most important things in the video to me are: the colors, the clocks, and the cake (to a lesser extent)!
the colors: go won’s color, eden green, shows up in the heart attack mv a lot. i don’t want to summarize too much but, two of the most important instances of her color appearing are in the pictures below. with the first one, it is clear that the mirror is go won’s color +
and the haunting thing about it is that chuu has no reflection. in the second picture, while yves is sitting in a chair that is her assigned color, chuu is sitting in an eden green chair. this, along with other things, leads me to believe that go won was originally +
yves’ follower and for some reason didn’t want to fulfill that role (also this is the role of love vs go won’s role of hope), so chuu was placed into this role. i’m not sure whether i believe that yves created chuu (like how adam created eve except in reverse) but i do +
think that this isn’t the role that chuu was ever meant to fulfill which can he seen by how she has no reflection in the mirror that is go won’s color. furthermore, i also think that this indicates that at the point in time of the heart attack mv, chuu has no sense of self +
as she has let herself be defined so heavily by yves. this leads me to my next point: i believe that the heart attack mv is all a dream sequence of chuu’s; not just the part towards the end. +
i think haseul being there at the end supports this as she is never seen in eden, so yves, chuu, and go won would have already fallen from eden at that point, and chuu eating a strawberry in the heart attack mv further suggest to me that it takes place in the past. +
moreover, there are like. a lot of clocks in the heart attack mv and the clocks time doesnt change outside of the one at the very beginning of the mv which for me suggests that these moments are frozen in time bc they are memories. +
so, more than heart attack being chuu trying to get closer to yves while in eden, it instead seems to be her trying to hold onto the relationship they had in eden, that they no longer seem to have after falling to earth (i’ll expand more on this later). +
lastly in terms of heart attack: the cake that appears for a very brief moment.on the cake are 4 yellow candles, 1 red or orange one, 1 blue one, 2 pink ones, and 1 green one.i think yellow candles showing up the most reaffirms the idea that go won and chuu are not in the roles +
they were originally supposed to be in, at the point in the loonaverse timeline that heart attack is in, bc of how hyunjin and go won are supposed to be parallels and yet hyunjin’s color pops up a lot on this cake which i think could be significant. +
haseul’s color being here makes sense, but the other ones may become more relevant later as i don’t know what i think about the colors being there atm! tldr; heart attack is chuu reflecting on the past and the mv illustrates how this was not the role chuu is supposed to fill
ok! time to speed run through the rest of my ideas bc i have a lot of work to do and i don’t want to stay up late doing it! i might expand on them more later but yeah let’s go! like i said earlier, it is clear that chuuves don’t have the same relationship on earth +
as they did on eden. this is indicated by the fact that outside of the XIVX teaser, chuu appears alongside go won in hi high and so what instead of alongside yves. this shows how closely linked chuuwon are in terms of lore, but also the change in chuuves’ dynamic. +
moreover, in the XIVX teaser, chuu jumps out in front of yves which indicates an assertiveness that chuu has not shown at all in terms of the loonaverse up until that point. the most recent and interesting change for me is why not and star. +
in why not, towards the end of the mv chuu appears standing on top of a car looking at the sun which seemed to indicate that she is still on earth alongside hyunjin and yeojin. but this i also shows an independence from both yves and go won and that she has not shown until now. +
furthermore, unlike hyunjin and yeojin who are alone in the night, she is alone in the day time. this has implications that unlike hyunjin and yeojin who feel isolated and lonely, she feels free by being on her own which shows a significant change. +
moreover, she appears to be mimicking olivia in the star mv as she jumps off of a long white strip similar to the diving board that olivia jumps off of in hi high. what intrigues me about this is how, unlike olivia, chuu isn’t being beckoned by yves. this is something that she +
is doing for herself. furthermore, in contrast to all the other girls in the mv, in this shot she is by herself standing under the moonlight. i think this not only implies that she is going to play a significant role in the loonaverse moving forward but it also reaffirms that +
she is not lonely in her independence at all. furthermore, this scene being in the nighttime alongside the scene of her in the daytime in why not can be interpreted as her being completely independent and free. tldr; chuu is standing on her own two feet now and is confident +
in her independence. she also shows no sadness in her independence as she seems freer than ever in why not. i definitely think that she is going to be important in the loonaverse moving forward!!!
