Yesterday our so called 'journalist' @RemaNagarajan raised a question on why the ESI needs so many sponsors for a virtual event.

Well anyone who has organized an event (virtual or physical) knows the answer, but let me illustrate with examples. #MedTwitter
This is the @EconomicTimes Virtual event called "Innovation award and summit" . This is a 'Virtual event'. You can check the website https://etunwired.et-edge.com/virtual/innotribe/ for more details
Let us look at the number of sponsors it has. They call it 'partners'. Well here is the page for that https://etunwired.et-edge.com/virtual/innotribe/partners/

It has about 30 sponsors listed on this page for a virtual event. Why does it need so many sponsors ? Its a virtual event after all
But it does no end here. One would think that 30 sponsors are enough, but you would be surprised. They are asking for more partners !
Why does it need so much money for a virtual event ?

"No speaker honorarium, no hotel booking, five star meals or flight tickets- why take sponsor money then?
Covid a chance to end dependence on sponsor for events, say senior journalists ?"
Are these speakers paid an "honorarium" ?
What about the advisors?

Is the member of @RBI paid an honorarium ?
This is just one event. Economic times has a company called ET Edge which conducts several events every year. All of them have been virtual this year. All have more than 30 sponsors to boast of. I ask again, "Why does a virtual event need a sponsor". @RemaNagarajan please answer
I rest my case.
