Teacher thoughts, as we approach the end of our quarter:
1. In SOME cases, my formative assessments have a faster turn around time than ever before b/c they're electronic. I'm not trying to find time to look at slips of paper. The real-time responses are pretty cool...
2. Electronic work means more often I can redirect students who miss entire parts of directions or are wildly off target. I've been doing a lot of "please revise and resubmit." It helps to keep the focus on mastery and not just completion.
3. It's hard to be at peace with doing more with less. As I loosely plan out units (b/c nothing can be too rigidly planned), I have to strategize. What to focus on and keep, what to let go.
4. It's also agonizing to be at the mercy of a challenging hybrid schedule w/multiple cohorts, a series of approaching holiday breaks, and juniors potentially taking the Legacy MCAS in January.
5. All the teachers I know are both trying to make the most of the time that they have AND trying to be aware of students needs, the pressures that they are facing, and how surreal this year is. It's a nearly impossible balancing act.
