Two nations fight a war. In many cases the uneasy peace that follows is predicated on both sides being able to claim victory of some sort. Diplomats and politicians are very well aware of the existence of parallel competing realities and in many cases they know that wisdom lies
in not debunking the "lies" of the other side.

This whole notion of fact checking on a global basis and determining one single version of the truth is misguided in the extreme. If we don't change course and go back to a world where people are entitled to their own truths we
will be the cause of future conflicts.

At the heart of liberty is the freedom to believe in your own truths and to be able to share them freely within a community of people who hold the same beliefs.

In the past I would have said that what we are missing are people in the
humanities who help us tech people see the world in a more human oriented manner, but it is an accident of history that humanities itself is going through a phase where it views the world in a very rigid sense.

I appeal everyone who is open minded to speak up against this notion
of a prevailing truth or of misinformation. Let us leave the definition of truth and misinformation with the reader and believe in their inherent good sense.
