Some people are still surprisingly exercised by the CJR story about Substack.

I found parts of the piece frustrating, but I’m glad it exists. There is a shift going on, and it deserves scrutiny.
We’re doing everything in our power to make Substack a great place for quality writers of all kinds, and we’re proud of the early progress.

But it’s just a start. There’s so much more to come.
In the meantime, I think these kinds of discussions are better away from Twitter, which encourages the worst kind of discourse. We need reflection, not hyperventilation.

That’s another area where we hope Substack can make a difference.
