there's this dude from my contemporary dance course who's here to Learn New Shit but he's really, really, really good at street styles of dance so i asked him when he started dancing expecting him to say 'kindergarten, when i was a wee lad' but he said he started at 20. he's 23
and i dunno i just wanted to share this with you guys because it was really fucking inspiring. you know you look at twitter and every artist and writer in fandom is 14 years old and doing the lord's work or you go to school and they tell you it's too late for you to start over
but this guy saw a few dance videos at 20, thought they were cool, started attending open classes (one time classes you pay for on the spot w low commitment), joined a youth league team, and now he has a crew, he performs, he teaches. and all it took was 3 years. from twenty
it reminded me and my 'oh my god every artist is 15 years old' ass that age is, in fact, sometimes just a number, so i want to pass along that bit of old man wisdom to you as well today. 15, 69, 400- you can start learning something whenever the hell you want. go Do that Thing
it's never too late. it's not shameful to walk into a dance studio full of 16 year olds who have been taking ballet classes since they were 2 and a half years old. it's not a sin to share your art on twitter, no matter your skill level. just passing that along. just vibes
